Promoting Resident Well-Being in North Carolina Nursing Home Resident Councils
The North Carolina State University Department of Social Work, in partnership with the NC Long-Term Care Ombudsman Association, NC Activity Professionals Association, and Friends of Residents of Long-Term Care (FORLTC), developed, piloted and evaluated a training packet geared to nursing home resident councils.
The training packet included a series of video modules and associated material for the use by Resident Council members. The project’s goal was to educate and empower Resident Council members and their associated staff in order to better support and contribute to nursing home resident quality of life in the State of North Carolina. The Resident Council Toolkit was shared with all North Carolina nursing homes and is available on the FORLTC.org website.
